The Micro Gallery
This unique exhibition celebrates creativity on a small scale, with all pieces sized at either 3 x 3 or 5 x 5 inches. The Micro Gallery will be on view in Gallery II from December 18 through January 8, culminating in a closing “Micro” reception on Thursday, January 8, from 5:30–7 p.m. Guests can enjoy micro-themed refreshments while viewing the exhibition, and most pieces will be available for purchase. Artists (16+) may submit up to two works in either size. All artwork must be family friendly and created on Illustration Board provided by JDCAC. Medium and theme is artist’s choice, but artwork must conform to the designated dimensions and hang vertically. Framing and or wiring is not permitted; works will be hung unframed. Registration opens on October 20 via auburnal.myrec.com. Pre-cut boards are available at JDCAC. The Total Eclipse of the Art
We will be traveling back to the 1980’s for a night of reminiscing about what Valentine’s Dances were like way back when. Considering this, the Total Eclipse of the Art event will encompass the love and heartbreak that comes with the month of February. The exhibition and market will ask artists to express their boldest feelings in relation to the theme. The exhibition will held in Gallery Two of the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center, and the Market portion will be held on the Ceramics Patio. Open Call for artwork and drop offs will begin on January 2nd and end on January 17th. The Total Eclipse of the Art Exhibition will open on January 30th and remain on view until February 28th. The Reception for the Exhibition and Market will be held on February 6th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm with themed refreshments available. The Exhibition and Market will be free to enter. The Market is limited to Artists that are active in the JDCAC Arts Community, art would need to be related to love or heartbreak.
