AIA: My Muscle Shoals
Adventures in Art: My Muscle Shoals showcased the photography of Dick Cooper Dick Cooper, who began his career in Muscle Shoals as a reporter in the early 1970s. Mentored by legendary music producer Jerry Wexler, Cooper built a distinguished career capturing images of renowned musicians such as Bob Dylan, Etta James and Jason Isbell. The exhibition was open to Auburn City School's Fifth Graders as a way to learn more about Muscle Shoals' musical history from Aug. 25 - 29, and on display to the public from Aug. 30 - Sept. 13, 2025.
AIA 2026: THE GULF
In Adventures in Art: The Gulf, Auburn City School's fifth grade students were able to learn about the ecosystem of Alabama's gulf and the Grand Bay, along with their upkeep. In the gallery portion of AIA, Prof. Chuck Hemard's photography was highlighted to teach students about the importance of prescribed burns, as well as help students understand how field scientists can use tree rings to help learn more about the history of forests. The Kreher Preserve and Dr. John Kush of Auburn University's Forestry Department loaned the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center different types of tree rings, Dr. Kush's tree slice coming from a tree that died at the age of 382. The Exhibition was on view August 27 through September 7, 2026.
